Chicken intubation
Thought yall might like to see this chicken intubated and being prepared for wing amputation. The red wrap is covering exposed bone.
FYI birds have airsacs and pneumatic bones. If you do abdominal surgery and cut into one you have to pack it off or you will get some of that gas. Once packed off properly the end tilted CO2 raises again.
Cutting into a pneumatic bone like this humerus also causes some gas/O2 loss, but once the muscle is pulled over the open bone, all goes back to normal.
Also birds have complete tracheal rings and should NEVER have a cuffed ET tube or you will cause pressure necrosis.
Double leg IVCs for fluids.
