Root directory is read-only and not writable?

Hey guys, so I rooted my OP8 running OxygenOS 11 using the Magisk patch of the boot.img, but turns out I can not edit any file in the root directory since irs a read-only directory, and that kinda defeats the purpose of root imo.

It is causing huge problems for me as I need to edit the .kl file for my controller and I have literally no way of doing that even though I have root. SO my question was - can anyone help me make the directory writable?

I tried mounting the directory with read and write permissions but dm verity prevents me from using the command and I do not want to get rid of dm verity so does anyone have any other solution?
