Anybody have a recommended iMessage workaround? Bluebubbles, airmessage, etc?

I'm considering moving back over to the Pixel 6 when it's released but like a lot of people have some concerns about losing iMessage. I have a spare mac so can use some of the workarounds. I've seen airmessage, bluebubbles, and beeper but haven't tried any of them yet. Anybody have any recommendations or warnings?
