Andor as Act 1

Post Body

Like many of you, Andor is my favorite thing to come out of Star Wars. However, I feel as though it provides very wonderful set up for something which isnā€™t really paid off in a satisfactory way in Rogue One and the Original Trilogy, as much as I love those films.

What follows is a copy-pasted comment I made on another post which I felt deserved a post of its own; my dream for a theoretical three-act arc which will likely never come to pass.

If there were to be any sort of spin off after Andor, I think the best course of action is to give us an Act II to Andorā€™s Act I. Now that the Rebellion has been established, show the Civil War that ensues after the Battle of Yavin. The Original Trilogy kind of plays around the outskirts of the Galactic Civil War but doesnā€™t really show us the true scale of it. Iā€™d like something that shows us how both the Empire and the Rebellion operate in wartime, with Andorā€™s quality of writing.

Then of course the dream would be to conclude that with Act III, a third and final series immediately after RotJ which shows the Empireā€™s final year of life as it fights a losing war against the Rebellion. Iā€™d love to see the Empire in full panic mode as the vast machine theyā€™ve built crumbles around them. Think Downfall (2004). Deluded loyalists trying to keep everything running, even when the tracks have run out in front of them. Generals sending out legions of troops to die in poorly planned, last-ditch offensives. Imperial Moffs and Admirals scrambling to secure personal assets as they feel the walls closing in on them.

It will never happen, but if they could pull off what Iā€™ve outlined above, I would finally view Star Wars as a ā€œcompleteā€ story. The original tale of the Rebellion done right.

Thatā€™s just my own dream for the future of Star Wars, but I know everyone has their own vision of Star Wars, and not everyone would want to see this much more content in the same vein as Andor. As fellow Andor fans, what are some of your dreams for the future of Star Wars?
