It goes without saying that Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of the greatest to do it. Of course he could nail any role thrown his way, but I honestly think he would’ve been genuinely interested in a project like Andor.
I was rewatching The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, and PSH’s Plutarch Heavensbee character fascinated me. He reminded me a lot of Luthen Rael: hiding in plain sight and committing to the worst possible crimes to make it seem as though he is in full support of The Capitol. Heavensbee suggests to President Snow: televise the floggings, show everyone the countless deaths in all districts. Throw Katniss and the other victors back into the Games again. It seems sadistic, but Heavensbee, like Luthen, understands the meaning of sacrifice.
All in the name of the rebellion.
If only… R.I.P.
