Where do people find the source videos for their projects? Like are a lot of them genuinely old found footage VHS tapes that have been digitized and brought online, or is there a website with ‘stock videos’, or…?
Post Body

I think it’s such an amazing medium and I love seeing what everyone does and all the amazing work, but I’ve always wondered where people source their videos from? Are people just scouring old news videos or can you find some of these videos on YouTube and then people just rip them and make them their own? Is there like a stock catalog like there is for say, photography when you need like a background image of trees and you can just grab one? If it’s a resource like that, how do you all make sure you’re not doubling up on videos that have already been used?

I’m just so fascinated by the behind the scenes process of this art form.
