[Meta] Could we encourage not downvoting a post without constructive criticism?

Post Body

I'm getting frustrated with this community because I'm posting (what I feel to be) quality analog photography, that is properly tagged and described, but I'm getting down voted immediately with no comments as to why, and then my posts are buried. I'm left with a photo that has 3 total votes and then it disappears into the void.

No matter how commercially successful, skilled, happy, or brilliant many of us are, I think we all would like to get better. "Hit and runs" don't help anyone.

I'd really like to encourage more feedback, especially when less-than-positive. I'd also like to make a plug for everyone to check out the "new" tab fairly often. I know it's not a huge sub, and I'm sure most of us do, but it bears repeating.

edit Even a bad photo shouldn't be downvoted. That's not what a downvote is for. It's for suppressing off-topic and inappropriate content, not for voicing dislike or disagreement. Either way, I'd like to see more constructive feedback all around.
