What makes people like Perron (so much)?

It feels like Perron gets a lot of praise on this sub but from what I've heard of it from friends it doesn't seem that great - they mentioned bad experiences with the staff, bad door & safety policy leading to worse safety in the club and unsavory types harassing people.
I went to a clothing swap in their venue some time ago and also wasn't very impressed with the venue itself.
It seemed however that people here are quite positive about the place. How come?
