Hi! I am 24F right above knee amputee 8 months ago. My amputation was decided by the doctor last minute and was a surprise to me when I woke up from a coma. As someone who needs to be in control and doesn’t like change, I did not take it well at first because how unprepared I was for this huge life change 😭🤣 I’ve been trying my best to immerse myself in online groups (I’d like to in person as well however in my area amputee groups are limited as far as I know) and learn my new way of life but I still have so many questions! What is some common knowledge that I should know about being an AKA? Is there anything I can still do, just differently than before(like showering I know but anything else)? Is there anything that I won’t be able to do anymore? Also ladies, what’s clothing and shoes like? What style of pants are easiest to work with? I used to mainly wear skinny jeans, leggings before this and my socket is so bulky I’m thinking I won’t be able to really wear tight fitting clothes but doesn’t hurt to still ask. Am I gonna be able to wear heals, boots 👢 ? If so, how tall, because I read somewhere no taller than two inches? Any other advice or information y’all have, please feel free! Also definitely would love to make new friends! It would help having support from people that can relate, open to messages! Sorry for the ramble, thank you! 😊
