I cut my finger in november with a kitchen knife while washing dishes, fast forward january and its beyond saving now, fully necrotic from the first joint up to the tip. Ive been to the hospital since 2 days after my cut, been taking oral antibiotics and receiving IV antibiotics for a month, working with several infectious disease doctors in a major city in canada, plastic surgeons, and even have seen rheumatologists to check all possible sources and causes of the infection but theres has been no clear answer to what caused it to go from finger cut to fully dead, sadly my finger is just fully necrotic. My biopsy reports have shown nothing, blood culture grew nothing, blood sugar levels are fine, no history of infections like this prior, doctors are stumped to the cause of it. I'm about to schedule surgery tomorrow and have it cut off by next monday. Im 24, healthy, and this is just so unexpected. Its so hard to wrap my head around, but I'm trying to shift my perspective and look into silver linings even though its hard to find any. Hugs to all
