Am I wrong for not thinking that we're done?
Post Body

So posting this after just having an argument with a couple friends and it isn't the first time I've gotten into a similar argument.

The situation generally follows where a given issue (I.e. women's rights, slavery, etc.) is discussed and I argue that the progress we've made isn't good.

My reasoning is that while we may have made steps to rectify such things, I feel as though we're only applying a band aid to problems. Like, yes, maybe here (Canada) we have rights and that's good, but I feel like it's still not good because the problem exists elsewhere.

If slavery is abolished in one place, would the people who partake in such things not move to a place where it is legal?

I understand that we can still be happy with small victories but, at the same time, I feel like by celebrating the small improvements we make we tend to put less value and attention to a problem. Like we only care about something until it stops affecting us and then we say it's done.
