Am I wrong for telling my bosses I wouldn't work if I didn't get my check.
Post Body

Hey guys. So a ex-coworker (24F) and I (25F) just got fired from work today because we told our bosses that if we didn't have our checks today like we were supposed to we weren't going to go in for our next shift. I don't feel like we are in the wrong because I don't know anybody who would work for free. This would be our first check from our new owners it's been 16 days since we have last been paid (2 and a half weeks). We always get paid every two weeks.

Comments

You’re not wrong. No one should be expected to work without getting paid on time—it’s basic fairness. If the new owners didn’t prioritize paying you, that’s their failure. Standing up for yourself and your coworker was valid, even if it led to being let go. You deserve an employer who respects your work and pays you on time. It might feel unfair now, but you did the right thing by advocating for yourself.
