My friend is from India and he's going to college near my apartment. My apartment is a 2 story house and my landlord rents out the bottom floor. I told my friend he could send packages to my address and pick them up before he goes back to India for the rest of the year. My friend said that the packages have been getting rejected when the delivery driver would come by, which I thought was odd. Today I got an email from landlord that said she thought we were involved in "brushing scam" and asking me a bunch of questions about if I had given out our address online and what companies I'd ordered from recently. I replied back and explained the situation and she sent me this reply:
" U r kidding me?!?!?!? You didn't think to ask if it was okay ?!?!? I have reported this as fraud to all these carriers & it's under investigation. I have spent more hours than I can count dealing w the deluge - lost count how many packages. I even canceled one of my credit cards. I don't know if he will be investigated. Just to be clear: the answer (if u had asked) would have been "No". Only you & I receive mail here. No more packages, mail, whatever for anyone else. Hope that's clear. Sorry to be so angry but I have lost sleep over this for a week. Any other decisions involving the household, you need to run by me first. Thank you. "
The packages didn't have my name on it, but I didn't think it would be a problem. I'm not sure why my landlord didn't ask me anything about the packages for the past 2 weeks and instead started canceling her credit cards and filing investigations into fraud, but what happened, happened. Am I in the wrong in this situation?
