Issue with Gotek floppy emulator
Post Body

Hello :)

I just got an Amiga 500 with a Gotek floppy emulator already installed. I never had an amiga before and I am super excited to play some games.

I followed the instructions from the Retro32 website, set up my usb stick (formated FAT32) with the .HFE and .CFG file and put my .adf files under a folder named software.

I insert the usb stick and turn the Amiga on but I cant seem to load in to the Gotek drives UI. The numbers on the side are not showing up (they are all lines). The LED on the side of the drive turns green when the computer is booting for a few seconds. Pushing the two buttons on the side does nothing.

I tried to boot from different USBs but no luck, What else could I try to get it running? I have no expirience with using this so I might be doing something fundamentally wrong, would really apriciate some help!

Hello,

So I reprogramed the microcontroller, I followed this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3OZo261EpA&t=416s&ab_channel=JanBeta

I didnt change the display or added the roatry encoder. I used the STM Flashloader and used the "flashfloppy-at415-st105-3.42" hex file. The programming was succesfull and I reset the board with a wire after programing it just like in the video.

I plugged in the gotek in to my Amiga and booted the computer but the gotek didnt show any sign of working. Boath LEDs were off and the display didnt show anything.

Could I have used the wrong hex file for my board? I am also suspicius that I might have reversed the TX and RX pins but I dont hink I could have completed the install taht way.

Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the help! I will look in to programing the microcontroller, I am pretty sure that its an older model. I got a pretty good deal on the Amiga so I am not to upset about the gotek not working, I might set out to re build the whole thing myself or just keep the microcontroller if it works.

I have the same micro controller. planning to load it with flash floppy and see if it works.

I seem to have the dirt cheap segmented display. It always shows three lines regardles if there is a usb inserted. I took some pictures.

I did try updating the firmware by adding the two .upd files from the Flashfloppy zip and pressing both buttons at the same time on startup but it didnt do anything.

I also found out that I have extra memory installed. I have a switch on the back that can turn it on or off. If I flick the switch I get one of two startup screens (see pics), not sure which one is on or off. This might have nothing to do with the gotek issue, the segmented display shows the same thing regardless if the memory is on or off.

I took out the folders and put everything in the root but it didnt change anything. I think it might be that the Goteks usb port is broken, not sure how to check for that.
