I've had nothing but problems with payments for the last 4/5 months. Strap in cause this is a bit of a long one.
So I was making minimum payments for a while as my health took a turn and I couldn't afford anymore than that.
I then wanted to book a flight home from the US to UK to see my son and the moment I made a 1.5k payment they froze my account and put me under a financial review. I got the review done (fair play to that them there turned it around quickly for me) but then the payments team said you need to wait 7 days before we release the payment, I was flying in a few days after that.
Now the money I sent was from revolut an online bank with no telephone customer and apparently the only way to bypass that was to phone them. I also had the same issue with chase and capital one in the past, I confirmed the money left the account and they released the payment there and then.....I don't get why amex are so special, or backwards.
Now this time, I made a 900 payment to cover a car rental for the trip and the exact same BS again. This time its even more inconvenient than just losing air miles, it's the fact I've had to use my spending money for the trip to cover the car and I have maybe 2 days left to cover food and activities with my son and i back in 5 days but amex are saying they won't release the funds until Friday which is when I fly back.
Honestly what utter BS.
I've now spent a total of probably 5 hours on the phone being passed around the people trying to resolve all these issues. Out of pocket of $50 in return fees cause I told them I'll make the payment on a different card and down about 10k in miles for it.
Why the fuck did I even keep this card is beyond me.
