Need to cancel basic Econ flight. How?

I bought flight to and from Los Angeles and London. I now need to cancel the flight. I spoke to two reps on the reservation team who said I can’t cancel the basic Econ with them and told me to write into customer service which I have yet to receive a response from. I’m an at risk COVID individual and told AA that with the queens passing, there has been more mass gatherings, resulting in an expected rise in COVID cases. They said this is not a valid excuse and won’t refund me or give credits. What should I do now?
