I was recently speaking to customer service about purchasing leisure military fares, and I was surprised to find out that they also offer main cabin extra/preferred seats free of charge when purchasing that particular fare (It also applies to your dependents when they fly with you on the same itinerary).

The customer service member also said that even if the military fare is the same price as an economy ticket, go ahead and purchase the military fare so you fall under the bracket to retrieve the free seat upgrade and free bags.

I’m curious to know if this statement is accurate because no other customer service representative in the past mentioned the free main cabin extra seats before, and there seems to be a lack of information online about it either.
