When can I eat?!?

Howdy oh great hive mind!
Simple question my search skills have failed me on finding the answer to:
I'm starving. I know that if I eat food before I take my Ambien (10mg oral) it will be useless.
When can I eat after I take it. Inevitably I'll be hungry before I fall asleep. An hour before or two hours after is what my usual marks are by trade but that's really not feasible.
How long after I take it can I eat and still hope to have it kick me asleep?
