Echo 2nd gen vs Echo Dot 3rd gen

I have in my possession both a 3rd gen Dot and a 2nd gen Echo. The most important thing for me is the microphone, I'd like it to be able to pick up my voice with high sensitivity and without yelling. Should I use the newer technology in the Dot or should I use the more premium Echo? Thank you!
