PTT issue on my icom ic-v8

Can somebody please help me, I got this old icom ic-v8 from my uncle no battery and charger, so I bought a battery pack online (6pcs AA batteries) to check if the radio is still working. Fortunately this old radio probably older as me still works! But when I use PTT the radio turns off. Can someone here know the problem? I badly want to use this radio. Thank you in advance
