Why does everyone claim to be a counterpuncher?

Everyone online claims to be a counterpuncher. On the Muay Thai subreddit everyone calls themselves 'Muay Femur' which is basically Muay Thai's version of a technician/counterpuncher. Is there something special about being a counterpuncher? Why does everybody want to be one as opposed to, say, a brawler or infighter?
