How to set boundaries with training?
Post Body

28 y/o female amateur fighter, 1 fight 2 years ago.

I feel compelled to stay in the gym for hours (essentially until Iā€™m dismissed or the coaches need to leave). I feel this reflects well on my dedication to the sport. However, I get burned out easily. If I keep doing this training will no longer become fun. It becomes pressure and stress. Also, I perform better when I have ample time to rest my body and mind. I notice thereā€™s a ā€œtraining starts when you get tiredā€ and ā€œblood sweat and tearsā€ mentality at the gym. Thatā€™s fine but when I have that mentality I get burnt out.

How do I set boundaries with training?

I took a break because I got burned out. But I love boxing, I need it or I get physically restless. I exercise daily, boxing or not. So I figured itā€™s in my heart and spirit so I might as well go back and start fresh at a new gym. Boxing does me good and I need it in my life.

Now I am retuning and need to have some boundaries. If I donā€™t I wonā€™t be consistent and Iā€™d rather have fun and be consistent than be stressed and tired.

I understand hard work and am down for that. I just need a strategy to protect my health.

Iā€™m dedicated and have potential to fight another amateur fight if I keep working.

Any tips?
