I've had my first sparring session and it was scary
Post Body

Hello folks. I'm 15, about 62kgs and had my first sparring session (i've been going to a boxing gym for a week now) against a guy who is about 17 years old and pretty muscular, alongside with 4-5 years of experience. As you might presume, I got my ass kicked. The guy literally treated me as if I was an experienced fella, plus, I only knew to block and throw straight punches (the instructor didn't teach me anything else prior to the session). I felt as if I was a sandbag. I felt like I was going to get beat to death so I just focused on defending myself. The guy went so heavy on me and my nose hurts. Am I supposed to learn to throw uppercuts/parrying, etc. by myself? I don't know what I'm supposed to do. Is this how you guys train? Any advice or information is appreciated.

EDIT: My then sparring partner has been suspended from the gym. I've talked about this to the coach, he watched the CCTV records and apologized to me for the inconvenience. Back on that day, the coach had given responsibility of us to the suspended sparring partner but as you might think, he misguided us (me and my fellow newbie mates). I'll let this slide and keep training at my current gym.
