Can We Talk About Terran Imbalances in ZvT For A Bit?
Post Body

I'm a plat zerg so I'm not the world's best player, and maybe the dynamics of the matchup are out of my grasp but in my opinion I honestly think Terran is massively favoured in the matchup for a variety of reasons. 1. VERY GOOD creep spread is mandatory. You cannot get away with good, or decent creep spread.. you literally need the amount of creep spread that only 3 queens can realistically/practically deliver in a reasonable amount of time. Even if you do the 3rd queen --> 3rd hatch, that's still 3 early game drones you're almost forced into foregoing. 2. 2rax is disgusting. I'm sure you watched GSL, and you cannot in any way tell me that SoO deserved the bunker rush losses. WHILE containing with 2 proxy raxes, 1-2 scvs and constantly pumping marines Inno. was building up to 3 BASES. Like what? Even if SoO holds that off, he's forced into producing a crap load of lings, being defensive, cannot deny the nat with the normal 2-4 lings, and is forced into going pool before hatch only to be contained on 2 bases until at least roaches. (which he's ALSO forced into investing into). Or some sort of bust in which it's only lings that run by the contain, and then morph in front of the Terran EMPIRE. (Because god knows how many bases that terran is on at this point). 3. Disgustingly low margin of error (literally almost non-existent). We've all had those games. You're playing a near perfect macro game ("perfect," for non-korean peasants like us). You have great creep spread, you're floating literally no resources, and damn you haven't even missed a single inject by more than 2 seconds. Then.. terran pushes out with their 0-0 marines with stim, cshield and 2 medivacs. Surely your 2-2 lings, mutas, and banelings can defend this measly push on a football field amount of creep? You have more than enough ground forces and you have bling speed! Of course you'll send your mutas to get extra damage done to the mineral line while your blings/lings stop the push! Oh wait. 400 minerals worth of static defense have now rendered your 1000-1000 investment useless (until you hit cloud like proportions) and to top it off the mutas aren't in the fight and you lose 1-2 just flying away. Then boom.. even on creep, and even with good baneling micro you still lose your fight. 4. It's easier to play Terran than it is to play Zerg. OK, this introductory line might sound really whiny or ZERGSUPREMERACE-ish, but it really isn't. In it's own right, I'm sure Terran is hard to play. but in regards to TvZ, the onus on pretty much everything is up to zerg. Here's an example: Terran can go early starport following a normal macro opening FE 2nd CC etc with some early hellion harass etc. Then transition into another CC. Get a few medivacs and all of the sudden you're hitting before the ~12min muta bench mark, and the zerg (because lings are pretty !@#) has to produce billions of zerglings to defend TWO drops. While this is happening zerg is expected to continue creep spread, scout, not miss an inject, manage the economy (oh I gotta remember to go double gas to match up my minerals gas for a muta timing), plus managing all the other random stuff like getting upgrades etc, while deciding on the fly how bad the economy is damaged/is being damaged, and then making decisions like foregoing upgrades for the time being to create more lings to defend while still droning while still thinking about later on in the game. The whole time.. Terran is macroing. Now before you say STATIC DEFENSE, let me just put this out there.. zerg static defense is 100/0 each. 3 bases, 2 static defenses each. 600 minerals right there. That's absolutely disgusting as the only alternative to dying to what should ONLY BE HARASSMENT. 5. Widow mines are horrendous. Honestly they really are. I'm not talking about 4, 5, 6, 7, or even 10. I'm talking more than that, and pushes with them. Usually you run 2 lings by and they proc the missle attack, but what if during the push the marines are killing the lings before they get to proc the widow mine? Ok bring the mutas in? Nope, the marines kill them and the widow mine surely will as well. What about wrapping around for a 2 pronged attack like any good zerg should? Nope, because during this perpetual siege, they've literally cleared all the creep you've spend thousand's of apm on within seconds. OK what about just yoloing.... nope there's ONE siege tank behind them, and it pretty much kills everything.. you run in anyways because you hate starcraft and will never play it again, and everything dies within seconds. BUT i guess I can get the moral victory because I made the widow mine splash damage kill 3 of his marines???? a unit that costs 75-25, that's invisible and is able to one hit literally EVERYTHING, allows the terran to essenially do a soft-contain or create a massive creep slaying, macro destroying siege. Damn I ran out of room.. Maybe after my next TvZ loss I'll add a few more points here

Edit: I'm really tired so I'm not going to make another wall of text about how imba terran is, instead I'm just gonna list some things really quick.

  • Mules are retarded in every way. How did anyone ever think a unit that equates to 4 regular workers (THATS FREE) is balanced.
  • Hellbats are roaches, but tankier, do aoe damage, do double the damage, and have extra damage against all light units (drones, ling, hydras, etc etc etc etc)
  • Terran mech is the strongest late game composition, so you can't even just rely on superior macro to survive through the imbalanced early, mid game because YOU'LL LOSE ANYWAYS.
  • Ravens soft (by no means soft or fluffy) counter almost every zerg unit in a way. BECAUSE ZERG UNITS ARE SMALL AND CLUMP. Not to mention we have no strong early units that shoot up (yeah.. youre not gonna walk queens over to the enemy base). You go mutas? They die because they clump. Sure I can micro 3 mutas out of the flock to avoid spill, but what about mass ravens. I doubt anyone (as shown in korean pro replays) can micro/macro at the same time while dealing with PDD (SO DUMB) and a billion seeker missles. Not to mention our only answer to terran mech (any by answer.. i mean similarly like an answer to a trick question) which are swarm hosts get ravaged by ravens in everyway. They clump sort of, and can't run away or dodge the missles.
