I bought an echo dot after using my friend's and being super impressed with it compared to Google home. From what I can tell the dot is the same one but:
- I'm getting 'Sorry I don't know that' all the time
- My friend's Alexa could do stuff without me saying 'Hey Alexa' every time. Unless I say Hey Alexa before every line, my dot won't acknowledge I even said anything unless it's a phrase from a list of options or yes/no
- My Alexa says 'Okay' after doing anything. Every. Damn. Time.
- My Alexa literally just googles things when asked with websites - my friend's dot would say 'From what I can find' and an extrapolation of the content
I checked around to see if there were custom firmware or apps but I can't figure out why my dot would be different than his dot. Is it because I'm in Canada and he's in the US?
I say this all the time! "For a smart device you're not so smart"😩🥴
I have literal FIGHTS with mine weekly🥴😩 When its listening....it hardly ever answers my questions. I just end up Googleing it. If I ask it to turn on a certain light, one device will tell me "there is no device by that name", then I'll walk in another room, say the same command & it will turn the light on🥴 I could write an essay, but yes My Alexa is dumb too ðŸ˜ðŸ¤£
