Long story so bare with me.
Tuesday I ordered delivery online from Aldi.com. everything went pretty smooth and I got my order delivered on time. One issue I had was I ended up receiving a few things that I did not order. I thought "ok, no big deal Aldi's twice as nice deal, I can just take this back." So yesterday I went up to my local Aldi to return the unwanted groceries.
The lady at the register couldn't understand why I had an emailed receipt so she called up the manager. When I explained to the manager that I was simply returning items that I didn't intend on purchasing from my delivery order, he said "what? We don't deliver." I said "huh? Yeah you do. I just ordered these groceries yesterday and they were delivered to my house." He replies back "impossible, because we don't deliver." I looked at this guy in utter confusion. I literally pulled up Aldi's website and had to physically show him that you can order online. His response "well you must have ordered it through instacart and not our website." Again I'm sitting there extremely confused as I liberally just showed him how I ordered it through Aldi's site. He then told me i was not allowed to return my groceries because it was an online order and that I had to contact instacart. I kindly said "but dir, I did everything through Aldi's website and I even have an emailed receipt from Aldi." He says "let me see" and takes my phone. THEN he has the audacity to tell me that my emailed receipt is not an Aldi receipt and it's 100% from instacart. I'm mind blown at this point. The receipt even had the address of the store on it and everything. After arguing back k and forth some more he finally let me return my groceries and told me he would only do the return this one time, but won't ever do it again.
Here's the kicker. He then proceeds to take all the food thag I returned and threw it all in the trash. I said "hey why'd you throw that away?" He said "store policy is all returned groceries go straight to the trash." I said "ok well if they're in the trash now I'll take them." He said "no you just returned them, you can't have them." I looked at the two ladies behind me in line like wtf did I just witness? They look at me the same way and the one lady said "go feed the homeless!"
I am just isshock and so confused as to why I couldn't return my groceries and why u couldn't have them after they were in the trash🤣
