Alcoholism and pain management
Post Body

I have a question for discussion. I am sober and have been since 1/15/2015. I have advanced spinal arthritis. I have had 11 back surgeries going back about 15 years with about a third of my back fused. I only have 3 barely functional disks in my neck and only 1 functional disk in my lower back. I have had dozens of spinal injections, along with other non invasive treatments. chiropractic is not an option. I live with pain at all times. Because I live in pain at all times I have to take pain medication daily. Baring some miracle I am going to have to take it the rest of my life. That said I refuse to take anything stronger than Norco. I keep my dosages to a bare minimum. Usually only 3 a day. I am prescribed more if needed but I have learned other ways to manage. If everything fails then I may take more but that rarely happens. I am very very rigid about managing my prescriptions and I am able to do so without somebody else monitoring my dosages, besides I don’t keep my pain medication with the rest of my medications. I keep it pretty well hidden, I have had it stolen a few times in the past.

Now the question. Do you consider me still sober.
