I am a 33/F and 11 months sober. I ended up going to rehab for a second time, surrendered to the suggestion of doing an aftercare program, and have been sober and active in AA since.
I feel good about my ability to abstain from alcohol, but I chose to stay in the town where I went for treatment (2 hours from home), so I’m really only around people in recovery, for the most part. With that said, I still am struggling with my self confidence and fear. I find myself trying to force things (new friendships, repairing old friendships), and constantly feel like I’m behind in life. I also am paranoid about being 33 and still single/no kids, like my time is running out.
Essentially, I still feel like my mind is all over the place, 11 months in, and I’m behaving like an alcoholic minus the alcohol. Is this normal? I haven’t struggled with desires to drink (but I am fully aware that can hit at any time), but I still feel like I’m struggling at life. Any suggestions or encouragement would be much appreciated!
