I used to get shitfaced drunk from age 18-22 (After 21, I would drink the equivalent of a fifth of liquor ALONE, in long 8-12 hour drinking sessions, about 3-4 days a week) and after a while, I eventually grew sick of hangovers and just switched to doing hard drugs (not a happy ending, but I have been off of most drugs outside of kratom and weed for the last 3 weeks!! I do not intend to get 100% sober as I am not ready, my goal is survival, none of those will kill me. My alcohol use nowadays is insanely low, I drink maybe once every few months, get drunk about 1-4 times per year, etc). Anytime I try to get drunk nowadays, I feel great for 30 minutes or so, and then If I dont keep drinking, ill feel like shit a lot quicker than I used to.
My hangovers are much rougher too, a lot of anxiety, and even if I get a light buzz, I still feel funky (even if I eat and drink lots of water, it seems that with age comes lower alcohol tolerance).
Nowadays, I mainly drink for flavor. I remmeber when I would drink 4lokos, cheap vodka, whiskey, cheap beer, etc, just for the buzz. Nowadays, I don't even chase getting drunk, I chase flavor and quality, perhaps too an occasional mild buzz at best. Anybody relate?
