Started playing yesterday, which weapon?

Hiya!

I started playing yesterday and love the idea of fighting with a Torch. Since its an offhand weapon I need to pair it with a main hand weapon.

Now, I'm not sure what to pair it with :) I got the advice to pair it with a weapon that scales well with attack speed, but I have no clue which weapons scale with attack speed.

Right now I'm considering combining with a hammer to trigger the auto attack stun more often. But whether or not I'm gimping myself that way I don't know.

I intend to primarily focus on PvE and gathering/refining, so I'd like to grab a weapon that assists me in those situations.
