Whelp as the title says,
Our house has been on a 40 amp breaker since we started renting 2.5 years ago. On our first 1 year lease was a guarantee to replace our breaker that wouldn't allow us to use more than 2 appliances.
This winter it got so bad we couldn't use the Oven any more even with EVERYTHING in the house unplugged.
Landlord scheduled it for for today, said it should take 3-4 hours.
We were gullible and believed that. We are no without power for at least 24 hours till the jobs done.
Landlord has stopped messaging us and the fiance works tomorrow. We don't have alarm clocks to wake up to or hot water to shower, and we were told our groceries would be fine (again for a few hours) but I'm not thinking they will last the night.
We have renters insurance but of course this took so long they are closed now.
Just wondering if this is something we are just S.O.L for? I read our lease and it has nothing about repairs/upgrades/having to vacate for extended periods.
Just looking for any advice I guess?
*** So for an update. Went across the city to the in-laws and charged a bunch of our shit, including some extra portable chargers we have. Came home, had my birthday dinner In the dark and smoked a bowl in the thunderstorm.
Definitely not how i wanted to spend this birthday but I acknowledge I could have it worse. I appreciate the input from the helpful people and I hope the bitter ones stay bitter :D.
Gonna make the landlord at least reimburse us for a day (or 2 depending how tomorrow goes) off rent as we were ready to make arrangements and she said not to.***
****Second update. Told today they double booked. So now we won't see anyone till tomorrow. Over 48 hours with no power, no communication from our landlord.
Also I start a new job tomorrow so no one will be here for the electrician.
Yay. *****
