I've figured out exactly how I'm going to retaliate. When it comes time to vote on the Alberta Pension Plan referendum, I'm voting yes. Because:
You get what you vote for. If anyone even close to retiring has even 2 brain cells this alone should be the only reason to not vote for the UCP and since the UCP are so motivated to see the APP come to fruition that they're deliberately looking right past everyone's outcries, that tells me that pensioners are fine with the UCP managing their pensions.
I'm a millennial with a chip on my shoulder, nothing to lose, and plenty of time between now and retirement. For probably the first time in my generation, we (meaning myself and other millenials) have the opportunity to steal the ladder back from right out under the boomers. Retirement is their reality, but for us, it's far enough in the future that by the time retirement comes around for us, the dust will have settled and we'll remain unaffected.
I have other reasons but these are the big two. I know I'm only one person but I strongly encourage others to consider doing the same as myself and making sure to tell everyone. Maybe that'll be enough to sway the on-the-fence voters.
