How do you guys find rentals?

I'm trying to find a long term rental local to me (Soldotna/Kenai) but I just can't seem to actually find any- or if I do they is hardly any info. Landlords of apartment complexes "don't know" when they'll have openings. Do you go to real estate agents, are there some hidden websites I'm just not finding? I feel like every other time I've moved it was so much easier lol.
