Traveling to Alaska in late August - Any tips?

Post Body

Me and some friends are doing a long weekend trip to Alaska in late August for our 40th birthdays. I'd like to try and make this a memorable experience with at least one epic tour of sorts. We plan to fly into Anchorage but are open to venturing out somewhere else for a night. I love the idea of a Denali National Park flying tour, even though that area is something like 4 hours away from Anchorage. Matanuska Glacier is much closer at about 1.5 hours away, but I personally don't think it looks as mind blowing as some people make it out to sound. Also open to a Northern Lights tour. Bottom line is we want to make sure we do something special. Can any locals give me some tips or thoughts? Thank you in advance.
