Towing question: is anyone using a Chevy truck? Your truck/airstream specs?
Post Body

Update: thank you everyone for the advice and sharing your specs! This will go a long way in helping us make decisions on both truck and airstream!

I’ve read a lot of posts about trucks used, but haven’t seen anyone mention a Chevy. Is anyone using any Chevy and with which specs and airstream? Has anyone considered it, but eliminated the option and for what reason?

More Info: We’re looking into buying an airstream and a truck. Luckily the timing is that we’re buying both same year, so would like to do the due diligence and buy the right combo. We realize that we may have to compromise on either truck or airstream size to be safe.

In ideal world, we really would like a Chevy Silverado 1500 and with the 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 and full towing package. Probably not want to go any smaller than a 28” airstream, because we’ll spend a lot of time in it and both need our own little corner to work remotely. Yes, I’ve done some math on this combo and I’m pretty uncertain about feasibility. Advice welcome!

Pretty sure ours is the same year and engine and we towed between Nevada and Washington state (about a 12 hour drive) just fine. Our Airstream is a 1976 31 footer.
