Did a spring change, now I'm not getting a response.

Hi all, I just changed the spring in my double eagle M16A1 down to an M95. After assembling it back together, I put in a battery but I am not hearing it shoot. After a few "shots" the battery connection sparked. Theoretically, it could be one of hundreds of problems, right? What are some common mistakes that happen after opening and closing a gearbox? Thanks in advance
