Does keeping the AirPods on the charger harm the battery?

I don’t use my AirPods every day, and I just got a new 3-in-one wireless charging dock. Had my AirPods Pro on the base wirelessly charging for a few days as I was just chilling, grabbed them today and noticed the case was a bit warm, then when I used them, my iPad was reporting the case had 84% battery instead of 100%. Is keeping them on the charger a bad idea?
