I've given some serious consideration to all branches of the military, but the Air National Guard seems like the way to go. My eventual goal in life is to become an airline pilot, however, I want to become a pilot in the ANG, ideally flying KC-135s (airlines love heavy time). I've spoken to multiple recruiters and they all have all said the same thing: if you want to eventually fly, enlist first. They have also said that the National Guard does almost all of their hiring internally for pilots and officer positions, is this true? If yes, what are some of the best enlisted jobs that will get me closest to leadership and pilots within the wing? I am looking at the 127th FW at Selfridge ANG Base in Michigan.
