Post Body

Heading down to McGhee-Tyson for NCOA soon. Wondering if anyone’s been recently and can answer a few questions like:

What’s the laundry situation? How’s the gym? Are you allowed to go to the DFAC for lunch during the day(instructions just say students are responsible for their own lunch)? Anything that’s a “must do” around Knoxville?

My Blues are squared away but it mentioned alternate combinations of the dress uniform. Anyone have any more insight?

Anything else you think would be helpful would be great.

I was there a year ago for NCOA. There's free laundry machines in the barracks buildings. Rooms are nice - some are older, some are newer. Not a ton of difference really. DFAC is good - when I was there it was in the E club temporarily - it should be back in the actual spot by now. Gym is fine, and you'll do NCOA/ALS PT once a week but it isn't hard at all.

You'll need full blues but you can do short sleeve or long sleeve. For females, you can do skirt or pants.

The area is kind of slow, lots to do if you want to drive to Knoxville. The mini mart on base sells booze, beer, and energy drinks and almost nothing else. I personally found that food options we limited to the DFAC since there's no fast food on base, and lunch was rarely long enough to drive off base for anything.

Homework is easy enough but if you don't know how to give a presentation or write a paper, learn now because you'll be doing exactly that 1-2 times a week.
