I put a Dixie paper bowl filled with pasta in an air fryer at 400 degrees for about 5 minutes. I ate the pasta but I am now coming to the realization that these bowls may contain chemicals that breakdown into harmful fumes at that temp and get into the food. I already ate the food and I know it's a bad idea to do in the future but should I be worried about something happening to me because I ate the food?
Edit: microwaving heats things differently than an oven or air fryer, so it's hard to say if someone microwaving a paper bowl is any different. I do that all the time too I just don't have a microwave now so I used the AF 🤦
Edit : as for why I felt like it wouldn't cause a fire - the parchment paper recommended for air fryers is flammable and catches fire if you accidentally put it in there with nothing on it but if there's food on it weighing it down from getting sucked into the coils, you're fine. I just assumed same thing for the paper plates 😅 anyway I'm sure it'll be ok I guess
I use parchment paper liners in my air fryer. Air fryers are closer to an oven than a microwave. Regular paper bowls would likely be a serious fire hazard. I am glad you are ok.
