On 31st March I made the decision to say goodbye to Elvis. He had become ill in his last couple of months with suspected cancer. I chose not to put him through the invasive tests and chose to spend the remaining time we had together spoiling him, giving him all the naughty foods with lots love and kisses.
He passed in my arms at 5:30 pm, he was twelve years, six months and eighteen days of age, he had been with me since he was eight weeks old.
For those who knew Elvis and had had the privilege of meeting him, knew that he was firstly gentle and loving, always a gentleman when receiving treats and cuddles. He was also a fool and a joker, he knew exactly what to do at just the right time to get the biggest reaction. He had a sassy side to him too, giving side eye and full on stink eye at times when he was displeased with family members. Elvis loved watching the football on tv and always enjoyed celebrating our goals, not understanding why we were clapping and cheering but nonetheless took the opportunity to enjoy the praise and attention for the bigger team.
There are so many more things I could say, and they would never be enough to describe the soul that was my Elvis.
