I got a trip from Canada to US on AirCanada where I will be taking a carry-on and personal item. I will be taking my camera and Tripod onwards and handing it over to a friend in US. The tripod in reduced size has a length of 60 cms, around 5 cms above the carry-on limit. I cannot fit it in my carry on. I have an Aeroplan credit card which allows me first free check in baggage. Am I allowed to take the tripod in cabin? I can check in my carry-on. Though sounds weird, Or if itβs the other way around, can I check in my tripod alone and take carry on and personal item with me in the flight? The return leg is with united, so no free check in, that rules out the possibility to take a larger bag.
Appreciate any help or suggestions! Thanks
