Good afternoon everyone

So I’m actually a army cadet (don’t hate) just looking for some advise, now I’m pretty good at bulling and have gotten some amazing mirror shines in the past but I’m trying something new. I’m going to beeswax my parade shoes and then bull on top of them. I’m going to be using a heat gun and a bar of bees wax for this but there’s polish on top of the shoe from where I’ve already polished. How can I strip down the polish to I get the grain of the leather so the beeswax soaks into the shoe.
