I am new to airbrushing & obtained some Createx Gloss Topcoat & it’s poor quality. I’m using over black on metal on a smooth flat surface. Think metallic car panel type surface.
Finally after getting a bigger airbrush 0.3 to 0.5 mm I was able to get it to spray without thinning it to water. It dries patchy with a whiteish / blue tint on higher spots. It’s not close to clear. It’s not glossy either - it’s satin after several coats. It looks like milk in the bottle & after it sprays it looks like dried milk on the surface if you inspect it under bright light.
I’m looking for something that leaves a gloss finish like piano lacquer. I’m not likely going to get that with acrylics - but there has to be something better than this stuff - it’s thinned Elmers glue.
I can obtain Vallejo locally - I may try that. I’m wondering if there is something a bit cheaper than Vallejo would be that works well. Maybe Golden or Liquitex?
