Ok, a few weeks ago we hosted a guy that said it would only be him staying and his wife would stay one of the nights. Simple request. He ends up having a buddy arrive during his stay and (judging from our camera footage) stayed one night with him. We have a policy for no extra guests, but my husband wasn’t worried since technically he never went over the allotted two. His buddy ends up just chilling on our entry way for an hour, which again goes against our house rules that state you only are allowed to hangout in the guesthouse and not loiter on our property. Later that day, we see him on camera (all exterior btw) bring a six foot ladder into the unit (it’s a 200 square foot guesthouse) for a few minutes. I was super concerned by it, felt like it was worth messaging on (granted this guy never read the messages we sent). Again, my husband didn’t think it was a big deal.
Do you think we should have messaged the guest about these things, or would you have just let it go? As for the ladder incident, we ended up finding that the smoke detector had been removed, so we’re guessing it might have beeped and he took it down himself.
Edited to add since it’s apparently unclear: there is a distinct guesthouse area, and distinct our home/property area. Guests are not allowed on our property, but they can be on theirs. The random dude was hanging on our side.
Do you disclose and get permission for these cameras?
