We hosted Simon even though we saw a poor review from another host. Before Simon booked the reservation he asked for early check in and we agreed to accommodate the request. On the day of check in for all guests we normally meet the guest onsite for the checkin by coordinating within the Air BNB app. Unfortunately the communication from guest was inconsistent. We agreed to meet before 11, guest showed up just before 2pm. Upon arrival at home guest complained about the home being small (5 Bdrm 4 bath). Guest did not like the fact that the stairs leading to the second floor are open leading to the upstairs terrace and 2 of the 5 bedrooms. Stating “this is not a house it is separate rooms.” Guest requested refund on his non refundable stay or to be moved to another property. We do not have another property and we declined to give a refund on a non refundable reservation. Guest complained “pool was cloudy” pool tech came over within the hour and verified pool was in fact not cloudy. Guest complained water heater was not hot. Maintenance tech came to verify the instant hot water heater is set at 120 degrees as normal. Late into the second day of guests stay the electrical utility grid went down. Guest did not follow instructions to conserve backup battery by turning off the pool. Because guest did not turn off the pool as instructed the backup batteries were drained within a couple hours. Guest was relocated via air Bnb bc of electrical utility issue. I would not host this guest again at my property.
