So, don't crucify me or anything. I promise I don't hate people who are different than me. =[
I have some questions! :D And I'm honestly trying my best not to be offensive here(count yourself lucky! I regularly make dead baby rape jokes in my spare time), so go easy on me.
1) How many of you are single-issue voters? In the realm of politics, I find LGBT right issues to be a mostly... non-issue compared to the bigger issues facing our country today. I do, however, realize that this is only MY view on things, since, well.. lots of people don't care about gun control and it's something that I'm vehemently against(I am a single-issue voter in the sense that if a candidate endorses ANY type of gun control, they have lost my vote).
That said, I'm curious about it. Would any of you support a guy who could fix the economy, end wars, and was against gay marriage, for instance(I'm not trying to make any endorsements or persuade anyone towards any particular person here - I'm just curious)?
2) What, in your mind, is the LGBT "agenda" in the political world?
I'm a person who is ALL for equality. True equality, at least. I don't agree with the civil rights act because it sets people apart and discriminates against people. I don't care if the people are privileged as a group, there is no excuse for ANY type of discrimination in my mind. I bump heads with a lot of feminists because they(those I bump heads with, not all feminists) believe that women are entitled to protection and favor beyond that afforded to men, in order to make up for their inability to physically defend themselves, etc.
Equal is equal, in my mind.
Is the LGBT community looking for true equality, or affirmative action?
(Likely to be the most controversial) 3)If heterosexual people are a vast majority(I have no facts to back this up, it is merely observation in the real world), shouldn't parents enforce(or at least encourage) heterosexual behavior in children until they reach puberty?
This is likely as close to anti-LGBT as I get: I cannot fucking stand people who dress little boys like girls and little girls like boys. They are children, and they deserve a chance to fit in(I say fit in not because I view being gay as weird, but because I view it as a minority, and children always single out the easiest person. A boy/girl dressed as the opposite gender is about as easy as it gets) for a few years before they have to grow up and think about such drastic, life-changing matters?
I mean, I wanted to dress like batman and carry around ninja stars shaped like bats to throw at shit when I was a kid, but my parents said no to me.
Rather than setting their children up to be on the "outside", shouldn't people grow some backbone and actually raise their children?
Alright, that's all I'll burden you with today. I'm open to debate on my views on any of these matters(and by open, I really mean my mind is open to change by a valid argument), and I REALLY want to know the word from your community on these questions.
Edited to add: Read the comments, I'd rather not make the same discussion 15 times. >_>
