I posted about this a month or so ago but it's still a reoccurring problem for me and I don't really know where else to talk about it.
I've been getting a lot of harassment on my blog for being asexual. I try to ignore it/not interact with these people, but they don't stop. They look for anything to pick at and it's driving me nuts.
For example, I posted some pictures from pride recently, in some of which I wore a patch of the asexual flag, and was bombarded by messages telling me I wasn't wanted there/I was "invading".
It's not just me either, I've met a ton of other asexual/aromantic people who are getting attacked for their orientation. One of the most common things I've seen is people saying the concept of asexuality is homophobic, that asexuals are "stealing" from the LGBTQIA community (by taking resources/space in/from LGBT organizations). It all sort of boils down to these people believing that asexual/aromantic people shouldn't be part of the LGBTQIA community, in spite of the fact that they have been for many years, and a majority of people accept them.
It's upsetting, it's stressful, and I'm not sure what to do. I've experienced similar treatment before for being bi/pan, but (for me personally) it didn't get as bad as this. I have received actual death threats for being asexual and talking about it, and I don't know what to do.
