"We need more guns to protect ourselves from the bad guys" is particularly untrue for LGBT+ people
Post Body

92 people are killed with guns in the U.S. every day. 58 of those deaths are suicide. Most people who attempt suicide do not die from it, but gun suicide survival is rare. Sexual minority individuals are 2.5 times more likely to attempt suicide than heterosexual individuals. Gay and bisexual men are 4.3 times as likely as heterosexual men. The disparity for transgender individuals is probably even greater. We should not have to carry death machines in order to be protected from bigotry, and even if we do we are probably much more likely to be killed by those machines ourselves than to save anyone.
