What can be inferred lore wise from the new Aground Zero trailer
Post Body

Fancy Fish games is giving us so much to work with in the teaser and trailer. This is going to be a lot, and it is extremely messily organized. Enjoy.

It is made instantly clear that this new game will give us new info not already known about Earth from the standard game. The trailer refers to the stasis chambers seen numerous times as cryopods, so that is what I will call them. There are pockets of survivors mysteriously buried underground in cryo pods similar to the ones found in fighter escorts and Mirrow's level technology. It is unclear why these people are buried here, but there is no evidence of them in Aground.

We can infer that the main protagonist of this game is the scavenger, as in 0:54 of the video and in the thumbnail we can see the character interact with the professor, distinct with her pink hair. The character also does quite a lot of "finding things," even going as far as to free other survivors from cryo pods. in the video, but that doesn't mean anything really. If you look closely at the quests the character is given throughout the video you can see the character is tasked with building many blueprints, mainly hydroponics that the scavenger had access to in the blueprint printer. On the topic of blueprints, In the video the character is given a quest to build a research lab. If my theory of scavenger origins is correct, this means the scavenger built the professor's "temporary" research lab. For further evidence, the character is seen building a bunker, the interior identical to that of the one in the scavenger's hideout. We can get glimpses of the interior from dialogue scenes from the scavenger.

In both videos the game makes it clear that this person slept through the destruction in a cryo pod, which could be used as evidence against my scavenger theory. Aground gives us nothing indicating the origins of the scavenger, only she managed to survive on Earth. The logs throughout the bunker place/thing talk about how any survivors to make it through the first signs of attack, "took refuge underground." Then again, both the trailer and Aground allude to an underground society of dozens, possibly hundreds or thousands of people all congregated together in the subways and whatever bunker thing the scavenger lives in. The scavenger talks about how the owner of the disabled keycard died on the subways along with lots of other implications she had contact with other humans. To refute the log theory, the logs are written in a more grammatically correct form of english, instead of the excessive use of ellipsis that the scavenger talks in, demonstrating someone else wrote it. In the trailer we can see many more people than just the 2 npc's you find on Earth in Aground, building an advanced society with teleporters to and from the different bunkers they had along with crop growth and infrastructure. However, this society collapsed and only the scavenger and the professor survived. According to the Earth logs, "The situation turned from bad to worse. Breaking pipes, cave-ins, dwindling food reserves." Also the drones may have helped the downfall of this society.

To add on about the professor, the scavenger says, "there was... a professor... who modified us... helped us survive." This alludes to the idea that the professor was a very important part in this society, leaving to conduct further research on another island about them and how they could survive. After the society collapsed they lost contact with one another, with both the professor and the scavenger being surprised the one one was alive in Aground. This also indicates that quite a while had passed between the collapse of the society and the time the player gets there, furthered by the scavenger talking about how she had not slept with anyone in so long. At the end of the trailer the place our character teleports to has the same dimensions and appearance of the professor's laboratory, showing their teleporter network was taken offline or even completely annihilated, as there is no evidence of it in Aground. The scavenger only mentions the professor, implying there were no other people who were sent to research with the professor.

In both the trailer and teaser there is footage of wyrms crawling underground, which do not spawn on Earth. No joke, there aren't even mecha wyrms. This means that maybe the old ones released wyrms on the planet, similar to how shards of their spaceships created the mountain above the professor's lab. Maybe the survivor's society were successful at hunting down these monstrous beasts and exterminating them from the planet, but this could just be a logical fallacy as well that Fancy Fish will patch when they release the actual game. It's important to remember it's just a trailer and not actual gameplay footage.

Please if you noticed anything more let me know. I have gotten way to obsessed with this.
